Traditionally one pair treatment programs are used within the orthotic industry. Occasionally Physicians will re-bend the plastic prescription orthotics to get a little more correction once the patient adjusts to the starting level. Other orthotic treatments on the market use pads to increase the correction as much as 3-4 degrees as the patient adjusts to the change in foot function..
Once we discovered Theta and could actually measure the correction in each and every orthotic device we prescribed, we learned that:
- Every 5 degree increase in correction almost doubles the benefit of the foot control device.
- Optimal correction is between 30 and 40 degrees for most every patients we treat.
- Most low arch patients can start between 10-20 degrees, most high arches patients start between 20 and 30 degrees.
- Everyone eventually adjusts to their starting correction and can tell that they need more.
Treatment that starts at a tolerable yet helpful correction, and then progressively increases as your body accepts and adjusts to the change, is significantly more successful than any one correction level treatment.
