Brent A Jarrett Subject: When to move to the next correction level
I have been using a level 25 in my dress shoes and a level 20 in my sneakers for about a month How can I determine if an increase is appropriate.
By the way, they have been great and have helped with life-long flat feet. It was almost too painful to walk. These have been great! Rich
Rich, If you have unresolved symptoms, you may be ready to increase theta correction… If you put the 25 in the sneaker and it feels better than the 20 you are most probably ready. Please call our toll free number to place a subsequent order and one of our treatment specialists will get you the best deal. Glad to hear you are making improvement. Dr. Jarrett
One day progress report
I recieved my in-soles yesterday ( 4/17/2006 ) and began using the 20 degree. There seemed to be a marked improvement as my right foot was hurting. The left in-sole feels a little higher than the right but I can live with that, no problem. I plan to use the 20 degree in all foot-ware for the recommended two- week time frame then change to the 25 degree as you recommended. I’ll e-mail you back in two weeks. Do you recommend not to go bare foot as this offers no arch support? Thanks again as I hope to get some relief from this foot pain. Donnie
Donnie, Exactly…every time you go without your orthotics you will set your self back and increase the time to resolve your symptoms. I will post this note to your chart. Dr. Jarrett
2 week internet progress report Heel Pain
Dr. Jarrett, Thank you, so far the 20 is working great and I’m now able to get up in the morning without a crutch. I feel like I could start walking around the block again, however I will wait a couple of weeks to let my heels heal!! Thanks again…pf
Pete, You are beginning to understand Theta and what it can do for you. Continue to wear full time in snug fit shoes and stay in touch. I will post this note to your chart.

Internet 2 week progress report, Hip, knee, Back Pain
Dr. Jarrett, I have been using the orthotics for about two weeks. I have been using the 20 in my work shoes because of no cushioning in the soles. It huts but I am getting used to it. I use the 25 in my walking/jogging shoes. There is still stiffness and pain in my knees but I have noticed a substantial reduction in pain to my hip and lower pain. The recovery period for the diminishing pain has been reduced. I don’t run but I am walking four to five miles every day with very little lingering pain when completed. I was not able to walk every day before because of the pain in my hip and knee after a walking session. I plan to move up to the 30 in my walking shoes in another week and try the 25 in my work shoes. I am still trying to get used to the inserts. Rolland H
Rolland, Perfect…you are starting to understand theta and to make it work for you. Continue to wear full time in snug fit shoes (your foot becomes smaller as you increase theta correction). I look forward to your updates and will post this note to your chart. Dr. Jarrett
Internet Posture Question:
I have a daughter that has been diagnosed with kyphosis at Primary Children’s Medical Center. She was fitted with a brace, but she will not wear it because it is huge and embarrsing. Do you have some type of bra that she can wear that will help hold her neck and shoulder;s back? Dana
Dana, Not a bra as that would be of little help, but I have something that will be hidden in her shoes that will make her doctor’s think she was the recipient of a miracle. Please call my PA at our toll free number 800-558-4382 and get her started with a treatment program. You WILL thank God for answering your prayers later.

Golfer treatment progress: Will Theta help.
03/27/06 Dr. Jarrett, I just received them and have put the 15s in my shoes. I’ll be playing golf tomorrow and will be able to give you a better review of how they and my feet feel. Thanks again, Rich
Rich, Perfect… wear full time in during all weight bearing activities, file bi-weekly reports, I will post this note to your chart Dr. Jarrett
03/28/06 I played golf and my feet are ok. Playing again tomorrow. Will send more info after the round.
03/29/06 Dr. J. I played golf and my feet are ok. Playing again tomorrow. Will send more info after the round of again and no pain, although my feet feel “tired”. What does that mean, (don’t tell me to give them more sleep) Rich
Rich, It means they are being used differently and not yet acclimated to the new way. You don’t need sleep just 3 months of golf to make them strong. Dr. Jarrett 04/08/06 Ok, I think I’ve “outgrown” the 15s. We went to Disneyworld yesterday and was walking from 10am till 9:30 pm. My feet were aching, but not the same ache as prior to wearing the 15s. I put the 20s in today and they feel much better. What now? Do you send me 25s and I return the 15s or do I send first? How does one know they have finally reached the optimum angle? Rich
Rich, Happy to hear you have moved up to your next level, the treatment process every time you increase the correction doubles in benefit. Your records show you purchased the 2 pair to start with, when you feel you are ready to move to the 25’s you can either call and place a subsequent order or go into our website and place it yourself, calling gives you the same offer as with your initial purchase with additional levels discounted. Most of us acclimate to the optimal level of 40%, although optimum level for a few is when all the symptoms for original choice to start with orthotics have been addressed and the foot pain is taken away. Thank you Chris Theta Orthotics Treatment Specialist
Previous Neuroma Surgery
Dear Dr. Jarrett:
I have worn my #20 orthotics constantly for almost the last two weeks.
I have adjusted to them in the sense that they do not bother my feet, but I still experience quite a bit of discomfort and would like to move up to the 25s. I feel that there is some improvement in the right foot, especially with the arch pain, but I still feel pain around the joint of the big toe and across the top of the foot. The left foot is still recovering from neuroma surgery, (it has been seven weeks) but I am getting more comfortable. The problem there is primarily with my fourth and pinky toes–they become very painful after a while in my sneakers.
Perhaps lifting my foot higher in the arch will move them further away from the shoe–they do have little bone spurs on them. By the way, I did purchase smaller sneakers, as you required. I went from a size 9 to a 7 and 1/2. There is still a tiny bit of slippage in the heel, but if I went any shorter, they’d be too tight in the toes.
How will I know when I have reached the right level of arch support, and will I ever be able to wear heels or pumps again?
Sincerely, Laurel Hills
Laurel, Thanks for decreasing shoe size as that is critical to getting a good result. Once you get up to 25 or even 30 , you will probably be able to get into the 7 with out any problem.
You will know when you are at your optimal level when ALL of the pain is gone or when you get to 40 degrees.
Even with spurs on the 4th and 5th toes things will eventually work out but they could be a bit of a concern when you first get shoes that are smaller.

Internet Question: Pain in the back of the heel
Looking forward to hearing from you, Thanks, Suhasini
Sushasini, Pain “in the back of the heel “ is known as retro-calcaneal bursitis. It is exactly what caused me to invent Theta 23 years ago when I was in your situation and was not able to find anything that would help. Our “Total Control” thetas are designed for runners with your problem.
If you do not address the problem soon it WILL stop you from running. Please call my PA at our toll free number 800-558-4382 and she will recommend a treatment program. You are welcome, Dr. Jarrett
