Internet Question: Pain in the back of the heel

Dear Dr.  I have heel pain. It started as a result of wearing sneakers for a long period without changing them. I run about 4.5 miles in an hour and it may be as a result of that too. I weight 150 lbs. I am experiencing some discomfort after the exercise, especially after I get up in the mornings–long periods of rest. The pain is in the heel, back of the heel and also the outer edges of the heel. Could you advise me a nonsurgical method to relieve this pain. I am very interested in the theta-orthotics.

Looking forward to hearing from you, Thanks, Suhasini

Sushasini, Pain “in the back of the heel “ is known as retro-calcaneal bursitis.  It is exactly what caused me to invent Theta 23 years ago when I was in your situation and was not able to find anything that would help.  Our “Total Control” thetas are designed for runners with your problem.

If you do not address the problem soon it WILL stop you from running.  Please call my PA at our toll free number 800-558-4382 and she will recommend a treatment program. You are welcome, Dr. Jarrett
